I recently celebrated my 23rd birthday, as well as finish my first year of university. So this post will be everything I did, got and a little life update.
It feels so weird to tell people that I am 23, I still think I am 20/21 years old. I planned on getting this post up a few days ago, but a present Matthew had ordered did not arrive until yesterday afternoon.
My birthday was pretty simple as I had a very important exam in the morning. So I started my day revising at 8am with a cup of tea and some biscuits. Matthew and I travelled to university for my exam which was at 12:30 until 3pm – so bless him, he had a long wait. I felt that my exam went very well. I usually struggle with exams, especially essay styled questions but my mock paper served me justice. After I finished my exam we went over to the Student’s Union so I could get a Starbucks. I am not a fan of coffee places, or coffee but I wanted to treat myself to a strawberries and and cream frappicino because it sounded DELICIOUS!
After that, we got the bus back into town where we went and had a lovely meal at a Hungry Horse franchise- I had a burger with mac n’ cheese chips (honestly the best thing I have eaten) and a fruit salad cocktail.
Look at that burger! Also that fruit salad cocktail was so good, but I was very tipsy after 1 glass. After our meal we went over to Matthew’s grandparents and just spent a few hours there. Then we went home, made steak and chips and then watched A Series of Unfortunate Events!
What I got:
Matthew bought me a Fujifim Instax camera last year which is honestly my baby. I have wanted one of those camera since they came out, but I refused to pay the price for them. Anyway, Matthew got me a camera case to match my camera as well as a box full of goodies. The box included a photo album, filters for the camera, selfie addon, bunting, photo frames, stickers for background and a pen.
I also got this shermet lemon candle which smells incredible! These sort of candles are from the Card Factory shop and honestly, they are worth the money – they last and smell so good. Then I opened up the Greatest Showman and I was so HAPPY to get this. I saw this movie in the cinema, and it was the type of movie when it finishes and you want to watch it over and over and over again. So excited to watch this soon, especially with the sing-a-long version. The little guy on the right if the Niffler from Fantastic Beasts; I collect pop vinyls and have quite a collection so this little guy is gonna have a lovely home. Super cute.
My birthday would not be complete without some cuddly bears – I got a little Miss Piggy, a colourful owl, super cute teddy and a monkey.
The final image is a sweet crossover dress that I picked out for myself a few weeks ago when we were shopping in Tesco. I wore this on my birthday (and to my exam) and I really love this dress. The only issue I have is that I do not wear anything that is quite low or revealing, so I pin where the dress crosses over.
I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS PRESENT! Let me give a little back story, if you have not already check out this post which is kinda similar about a local shop in my parents town. We found a special edition of Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, which is one of my favourite books ever. I have read it around 10 times and it is just my go to book if I want to read something to escape. I said to Matthew, that I will pick it up when we come back into town. The day we were supposed to go into town was not until 1-2pm and this store has the most random closing times ever. I had to go into a shop with my grandparents, which took forever so I did not have any time to find it (and I also forgot…).
When we got back to our house, I remembered about this book and was absolutely gutted that I did not get it. Little did I know, that Matthew had gone and bought it, gave it to my mum, had it wrapped and it would be sent up to me for my birthday. Matthew said that the shoes I got were my main birthday present, but honestly this book is everything.
This was my main birthday present that Matthew bought me, and I almost killed him because I know how expensive these shoes are. I have one pair of Dr Martens, the ankle ones, so breaking them in hurts so frickin’ much that they just sit nicely on my shoe rack. I saw these shows on ASOS about a month ago and just fell in love. These shoes are perfect; they are black, suede, heart buckles and a heart patch on the back.
I had a lovely day on my birthday, besides the exam. It was simple, sweet and spent with my loved ones.
University is officially over for me, which is crazy. I cannot believe I have done 3 years and still in year 1…..but I am super excited to pick my electives in a few months! I already know what I want to pick and also what modules I would like to do for my final year. Even though university is over until September, I am still completing my online course which is on Mental Health Awareness. My plans for summer are quite sparce – we plan to go to Cornwall in a few weeks so I can spend some time with my grandparents and parents. Other than that, I hope to put more effort and time into my blog as well as work.
I hope everyone is having a lovely week – do you have any plans for summer?
